Making studio building more sustainable
21 March 2024

Since last week, my studio has been 'empty'. It won't be too long before I can go back but it is having a huge impact. Of course, a temporary move is always inconvenient but this one especially so as the schedule had been brought forward 20 weeks.
Most of the stuff from my studio will be stored elsewhere in the building for several weeks. It is not the first time I have had to clear out my studio but over the years I have naturally accumulated quite a bit more plastic waste around me.
Since its inception, I and the other artists of Stichting Kunstgreep'95 moved from Kennedylaan via Gedempte Burgwal to Prinsegracht 64 in The Hague. In the 25 years we've been at Prinsegracht, the studio also had to be vacated in 2003 due to a number of works including the removal of the softboard panels (a fire hazard) that had been affixed to the walls to camouflage the cracks in the walls. At the time, I was very sorry to have to say goodbye to my huge notice board with inspirational pictures. But as you can see from the photo of the open studio day 20 years later, it just turned out all right again.
During the renovation, sales will continue 'as usual'.
